Marketing, Merch & Sponsorships

Who can I contact about donations or sponsorships?

Supporting the local community is something we love to do at Oporto.  But because all of our stores are independently operated, it’s up to each store as to which partnerships are the most suitable.  We’re a friendly bunch though, so the best thing to do is reach out to your local store and have a chat.  Click here to find out your nearest store’s location. 

How can I get my hands on some Oporto merch?

We get asked this a lot (turns out Oporto merch is as hot as our chicken!).  As much as we’d love to have everyone repping our gear 24/7, our merch isn’t for sale to the general public and is reserved exclusively for our team☹️ 

But we do run merch giveaways every now and then, so keep an eye on our socials! Either that or apply to join our crew.

Can you send me info for an assignment?

If it’s an assignment on nuclear physics or 15th century British poetry, we’re probably not the best people to ask. But if it’s restaurant and food related, we know a thing or two. At this stage you’ll find all of our publicly available info on our website. But until we open up the ‘Oporto University’, that’s as much as we can share at this stage.

Products

I’m a bit of a DIY’er. Can I make my own burger, wrap or bowl?

You sure can, Chef. We make most of our menu items fresh to order, so you can easily add or remove ingredients.  Who knows, your creation many end up on our permanent menu! 

Where do your chickens come from and how are they treated?

Our chickens are barn-raised and grain-fed. Sourced from Australian farms with RSPCA Approved certification, they grow up in large, enriched barns with easy access to food and water, perches for leg health and dry, friable litter. For more info on their welfare, look here.

Do you have any vegetarian options?

We’ve got more vegetarian options than you could poke a carrot stick at! Our most popular is our Veggie Burger, which is meat-free and cooked in a separate fryer to animal-based products. And we take care to ensure that there’s no traces of animal products in the preparation of any of our vegetarian menu items. These include our;

Do you have any vegan options?

We’re all about options. 

Our range of vegan-friendly items contain no animal products (meat, dairy or eggs), and we’ve got procedures in place to prevent cross contamination when frying, grilling and handling. Options include: 

  • The Vegan Burger (the patty’s cooked in a separate fryer to our animal-based products) 

  • The Vegan Rappa (same deal here) 

  • Our Chips (even our salt! Double tick!!) 

  • Churros (minus our non-Vegan Salted Caramel Dipping Sauce) 

  • All of our Drinks 

 Your other option is to go rogue and customise your burger, wrap or bowl using any of these ingredients: 

  • Avocado 

  • Hashbrown 

  • Vegan patty 

  • Veggie patty 

  • Pineapple slices 

  • Potato Bun 

  • Shredded lettuce 

  • Dry Slaw (avoid Crunchy Slaw as this has egg in the dressing)

Or to keep it simple, try the Vegan or Veggie Burger Meals (without the cheese & sauce). Excelente! 

Gluten Free, that’s me. What have you got that I can eat?

We try our best to cater to everyone, including customers with gluten intolerance or celiac disease. But due to the potential risk of cross contamination of wheat products in our stores, we can’t claim to have any 100% gluten-free products.  

That said, we have gluten-friendly products that don’t contain any wheat within their ingredients. These include our Whole Chicken, Portuguese Salad, Corn, Coleslaw, Salad (Lettuce, Dry Slaw, Mesclun, Tomato), Chocolate Mousse and Sauces (Extremo Picante, Lemon & Herb, Mayo, Original Chilli, Tomato & Capsicum Relish). 

You can also customise a bowl using the following gluten-friendly ingredients: 

  • Avocado 

  • Cheese Slice 

  • Egg 

  • Halloumi 

  • Vegan Pattie 

  • Pineapple 

  • Pulled Chicken 

  • Salad (Lettuce, Dry Slaw, Mesclun, Tomato) 

Is your menu halal?

Our chicken is Halal certified, yes.  Their preparation is prescribed by Muslim law, from our suppliers. This includes Whole Chickens, Grilled Chicken Fillets, Crispy Chicken Strips, Spicy Chicken Bolas and Grilled Tenders.   

We also have procedures in place to ensure separation and correct handling occurs, but we can’t say our stores are technically Halal certified.  That’s because we can’t 100% guarantee that no cross contamination could occur between our chicken and non-Halal products during the cooking process.  

We do have plenty of halal customers though, and the decision of whether our measures constitute being halal is ultimately up to you. 

Which products contain dairy?

Whether you love it or trying to avoid it, dairy (including products containing milk from animals) is an ingredient in the following items; 

  • Halloumi 

  • Cheese Slice 

  • Jalepeño Bites 

  • Garlic Dip 

  • Coleslaw Dressing 

  • Chocolate Mousse 

  • Caramel Dipping Sauce 

And these products contain traces of dairy: 

  • Pita Bread (Small & Large) 

  • Spicy Bolas 

  • Cinnamon Sugar 

Rest assured we have procedures in place to prevent cross-contamination, but it may still occur between products. 

Nuts. Do you use them?

Short answer, no. Although our suppliers take care to avoid cross contamination, there is still a chance that cross contamination may occur during processing & preparation in their facility. So we can’t say 100% that any item sold is free from peanuts or tree nuts.

Are you MSG free?

Believe it or not, MSG (monosodium glutamate) can be naturally occurring or an added ingredient. For example, broccoli, mushrooms and cheese all contain natural MSG.  As an added ingredient, it’s labelled as Flavour Enhancer (621), and we only have one product that has it – our Lemon & Herb sauce. 

Do you use raw egg in any products?

Raw eggs, no.  Pasturised eggs, yes.  And only in our Creamy Mayo, Prego and Garlic sauces. 

Online Orders

Can I place orders in advance?

Just place your order on the Oporto app or website and you can tell the store when to start cooking.

How do I pay for my online order?

We currently accept Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

How do I collect my online order?

Make sure you tell the restaurant to start cooking your order when you are on your way or about to arrive - you do this by swiping in the app or on the website just after payment.

When you get to the restaurant, head to the pick up point inside and skip the queue, or if you prefer to drive thru, just tell the team your name and order number.

I was unable to tell the restaurant to start cooking on the app or website, what do I do?

Just head into store, and speak to a team member, they should be able to help retrieve your order and get you your food!

How do I cancel & get a refund?

If you placed a click and collect order and haven't told the restaurant to start cooking you will be refunded your order in approximately 7-10 business days.

Delivery

I’ve got a delivery order issue. Can you help?

We’re sorry to hear that. As all of our delivery orders and transactions go through our delivery partners, any kind of monetary solution will need to go through their team.  Please reach out to them directly to discuss it and work out a resolution. 

Why don’t you deliver to my area?

Noooooo!  Maybe it’s time we launched that fleet of chicken delivery drones we’ve been round-tabling 🤔

No, seriously, we’re sorry to hear that.  No one should miss out on the Oporto experience.  No. One. Unfortunately, we don't have any control over our delivery partner's delivery radius. But hopefully there’s another way you can get a taste of the good stuff though, like ordering via our app or website and collecting in store - this way you can skip the queue!

Delivery costs more. Why’s that?

Yup, our delivery menu is a little different to our in-store menu. That’s because there’s a small cost that comes with delivery. We have to pay our delivery partners, who in turn pay their delivery drivers, who then have to pay for things like petrol and running costs of their vehicle.  You can see how it adds up.   

But rest assured, we keep delivery costs as low as we can, while you get the convenience of receiving freshly made-to-order tastiness straight to your door in next to no time.  Not a bad trade off, really.

I’ve got a big event coming up. Do you offer catering?

We certainly do. Whether it’s catering for the big family get-together or your next club function, you can pre-order through the Catering section on our site here or contact your local store directly.

About Flame Rewards

Flame Rewards? What is it?

It’s only the hottest, tastiest loyalty program you’ve ever had the good fortune to join, that’s what. The more you visit us, the more you’ll enjoy instant rewards and special offers. Members earn Flame Rewards Dollars on every qualifying transaction to spend at participating Oporto restaurants and Oporto Online. One Flame Rewards dollar is equal to the value of one regular dollar (simple system, eh), and members can redeem anything from 5-cents upwards to help pay for an in-store or online purchase.   

And it’s free to join!  Chop, chop! 

Is Flame Rewards available at every restaurant?

You can earn Flame Rewards Dollars at most Oporto restaurants, but there are a few exceptions.  For example, Flame Rewards is unavailable in South Australia, and you can’t earn Flame Rewards Dollars at our restaurants in airport stores, football stadium stores or at Oporto stores outside of Australia.  Sorry about that. 

How do I join?

It’s easy, and it’s free. Just download the Oporto Flame Rewards app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Once you enter your name, email address and mobile numbers, you’ll be sent a one-time passcode (“OTP”) via SMS to complete your registration. Then you’re free to start earning and redeeming sweet, sweet Flame Reward dollars! 

The reason why we need you to have both email and mobile is to protect your identity and prevent fraud, which is why every Flame Rewards account needs to have a unique email and phone number assigned to it. 

I’m getting an error message saying my phone number or email address has already been registered.

No worries. This happens when the mobile number or email address you’re entering has already been registered with another account. If that’s the case, you can use your existing account or just provide us with a new mobile number and/or email address. 

Can I use Flame Rewards with other offers and discounts?

We love offering our loyal customers discounts, but unfortunately, we don’t offer double dipping.  So, for example, if you use a Senior’s Discount on a purchase, you won't be able to use Flame Rewards dollars or vouchers on that same purchase. 

As a Flame Rewards member you can still use discount vouchers and special offers, but you just can’t use Flame Rewards Dollars at the same time or earn Flame Rewards Dollars from the purchase. 

How do I redeem Flame Rewards dollars?

Simple. To start redeeming, members must:  

  1. Successfully register their account. 

  2. Accumulate a minimum of $0.05 in rewards (minimum redemption amount is $0.05) 

  3. Then order instore or online.  If you’re instore, just scan your app QR code or give your mobile number to the Team member at the counter and let them know you’d like to redeem some Flame Rewards dollars. If you’re ordering online, you can redeem Flame Rewards dollars by ordering via our app or online menu once you've logged into your Flame Rewards account.

What is ‘member status’?

When you first join the Flame Rewards program you start on the Orange Tier. That means you’ve achieved ‘Orange status’. Then, the more you visit, you can progress to our Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers. The further up you move the more rewards you get!

How do I find my vouchers and how do they work?

You’ll find all your Flame Rewards vouchers in the ‘Rewards’ section of your app or in your Flame Rewards account when logged into the website. Redeem your chosen voucher and apply the discount to your cart.

To redeem vouchers in-store, just scan your app QR code or provide your mobile number to one of our team members.

How does the Free regular chips registration voucher work?

How good is free stuff, right? All fully verified members receive a special free regular chips welcome voucher on their accounts, valid for 14 days from the issue, that automatically shows up in your account.

To claim in-store, scan your member QR code or share your mobile number at the counter. To claim online via the app or website, go to your Flame Rewards account and add the voucher to your cart.

I get a birthday voucher? Tell me more.

We love an excuse to celebrate, and your birthday feels like a pretty good one. So, if you’ve successfully registered and provided your date of birth before the day of your birthday, you’ll get a free birthday treat on us! What you get depends on your member status on the day - Orange members receive a $3 OFF voucher for in-store or online orders, while Platinum members get a $10 OFF voucher to redeem in-store or online. You’ve got 30 days from the date of issue to redeem your gift, so get cracking!

Can I merge Flame Rewards accounts?

You can, yes. When you add a card in the Profile Details section of your account, and it’s already linked to another account, you’ll be asked if you want to merge your accounts. The Flame Reward Dollars balance will be merged over as well; however, make sure to use any bonus vouchers or offers prior to merging accounts as they won’t be transferred across. All future Flame Rewards dollars earned on the card will then get added to your account automatically. 

When I try to reset my password, I get an error message.

Don’t you just love technology? 😂 🤦

Not to worry. You could be getting the message because the password reset token you’re using is too old.  Check to see if a newer password reset email is in your inbox. Alternatively, start again and request another reset password email and use that one. 

And if you’re still receiving an error message on the latest password reset email, it could be because your account isn’t fully verified.  Have a look to see if there’s something you still need to complete in your account set-up. 

Whoops. I didn’t scan my Flame Rewards app on my last visit.

We get it.  Our customers are so focused on getting their Oporto fix that they forget to do the little things like scanning their app. Thankfully, all is not lost. If you’ve got a copy of your receipt and your Flame Rewards details (member number or email address linked to your account) send them to us here and we’ll look at adding your last transaction to your Flame Rewards account.

What if my child/student doesn't get the job?

We’ll let them know via phone or email, but it definitely isn’t the end of the story. They might not have been right for the role at the time, but they can reapply to any of our restaurants whenever they like. We’re always looking for great people to join la familia.

Why would I want my child/student to work at Oporto?

At Oporto, we believe in giving our ‘familia’ more than a job. We give them an opportunity to grow, develop and learn life skills they can take out into the world. They’ll learn time management, people skills and team work whilst also developing self-confidence and making great friends in an environment where everyone is encouraged to live a life full of ‘adventure’ and enjoy themselves.

Wages are fair and will increase as they progress through the company - the opportunities for which are always available. This isn’t a company that throws people in at the deep end, this a place where support is never-ending, great people always have your back, we embrace differences and always celebrate proudly together.

Who owns Oporto stores?

Our stores are proudly owned by independent Franchise Partners. Our FPs are entrepreneurial business women and men who know what it takes to achieve success. They receive a lot of support from Oporto head office and really know the importance of people.

Who would manage my child/student on a day-to-day basis?

Our Franchise Partners are very active in the store and would likely be available most of the time. They’re supported by a team of well trained, professional Managers who they hand select and progress through Oporto’s great management training. Together, they’ll give your loved one the guidance and support they need to thrive.

Are there opportunities to learn and develop at Oporto?

From before they even start their first shift, your child will start learning the Oporto way. They’ll learn our history and all of the necessary information to keep them safe and help them succeed. Once they’ve been through their Restaurant Walk and Talk they’ll start their store training with either a Spice Master or experienced Team Member who will show them the ropes and get them off to a great start.

All of our online training is facilitated through SurfBoard, our one stop shop for training, communication and policy/company information.

How does Oporto communicate with employees?

On a weekly basis everyone in Oporto (our familia) receives the ‘Familia Feed’ with all of the latest must know information. During the Walk and Talk we’ll also discuss Cravers Connect, an internal networking group only for Oporto employees that we use to share messages from our CEO, connect people and share great success stories.

How does rostering and time-off work?

We want all of our familia to explore their passions and excel in everything that they do. We know that means they need to dedicate the time required to their studies, sporting or family commitments or whatever else excites them. With that in mind, we try to be flexible so that they can be as successful as possible. All we ask is that they discuss their needs with their Franchise Partner or Restaurant Manager in advance so that we can all plan around them.

How is the roster given to the team?

In some stores they will also be able to request changes to their roster through the ZUUS app. This will all be explained during the induction or ‘Restaurant Walk and Talk.’

Pay and Conditions

The terms and conditions of employment will either be governed by the Modern Fast Food Industry Award (2010) or an Enterprise Agreement for that particular store. Either way, this will be clearly explained during the induction or ‘Restaurant Walk and Talk.’

This will also outline whether wages are paid weekly or fortnightly and how payslips will be distributed.
